Constellation Energy Signs Purchasing Agreement with Boston Generating

The AESO baseload price was $34.27 on Friday, $30.48 on Saturday and $24.16 on Sunday. Sundance #6 went off line at 17:10 on Friday before return on line Sunday at 1:56, during that time Calgary Energy Centre came on line Friday at 23:26 then back off at 14:30 on Saturday… Constellation Energy has signed an asset purchase agreement with Boston Generating to acquire its 2,950 MW fleet, the third largest power generating portfolio in the New England region, for approximately US$1.1 billion. The proposed transaction is expected to be consummated through a court-approved bankruptcy proceeding to be initiated by Boston Generating. If approved, Constellation Energy’s bid would then be considered the price to be beat in an asset auction to be held later this year. If Constellation Energy is ultimately the successful acquirer, under terms of the agreement it would acquire Boston Generating’s five power plants located in the Boston area: four natural gas fired plants, including Mystic 8 and 9 (1,580 MW), Fore River (787 MW), Mystic 7 (574 MW); and a fuel oil plant, Mystic Jet (9 MW)… Acciona Wind Energy Canada, the Canadian arm of the Spain-based company, announced  forward movement on its Lameque Wind Power Project located in New Brunswick. The 45 MW wind farm has a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with New Brunswick Power and is set for ommissioning in early 2011. Its fourth wind farm in Canada, Acciona Energy will invest approximately CAD$115 million in Lameque, which will support 30 1.5 MW Acciona wind turbines. The site covers 3,100 acres. Sixty-eight landowners have signed lease agreements to participate in the development.
