HR Milner Off and On Line; AltaGas California Wind Farm; Northland Power Starts Quebec Wind Farm

HR Milner was off and online several times late yesterday and early this morning but is currently online…AltaGas is proposing a 70MW with up to 42 264-feet-tall wind generating turbines on an 8,000 acre right of way on the Bureau of Land Management’s Walker Ridge. The Walker Ridge project and about 75 more wind farms are being planned on public lands throughout the state as energy companies rush to meet California’s green energy goals…Northland Power Income Fund announced that it has started site clearing for a wind farm to be located in the Gaspesie region of Quebec near Mont Louis, about 150 km east of Matane. The 100.5 MW Mont Louis project was awarded a contract in 2004 to supply power to Hydro-Quebec under a 20 year Power Purchase Agreement…Transmission Developers Inc, a Toronto company, that had proposed a 420-mile underwater electric-transmission cable from Canada, a portion of which would have gone under Long Island Sound to Bridgeport, is scrapping its plans for the Connecticut leg of the project. The power generators that will pay to build the so-called Champlain Hudson Power Express found selling their electricity in the New York City marketplace more lucrative than selling it in Connecticut. Scrapping the Connecticut leg of the project will reduce the cost of the project from $3.8 billion to $1.9 billion, the length of the line from 420 miles to 355, and the amount of electricity transported on it from 2,000MW to 1,000MW.
